So in the wonderful land of college, we actually get credit for doing things that we love (sometimes). For instance, I’m getting one college credit for playing water polo twice a week.
Today was my first day of water polo class and I learned something about my self. I have been in denial for some time, but I can no longer ignore the obvious the facts. I am out of shape.
All we did today was a few laps of the pool, a few passes, and a few drills. And me? I spent my time sucking air. Which is a generous way of simply saying “sucking”. It was one of those experiences where you think to yourself, “I don’t know why I tried, but breathing still doesn’t work under water.”
It wasn’t actually too bad, and a few other people in the class were feeling my pain as well. True, the water polo player’s excuse for a swimsuit might get a little weird at times, but hopefully by the end of the semester I’ll chisel up, get a tan, and look like a less-round version of the former self.
