Remembering people’s names is one of the most important skills you can develop. I would be the first to admit that I’m not the best at remembering people’s names. But I have a friend who is, and now I’m getting better thanks to a tip he gave me.
Here it is:
When someone tells you there name, immediately think of someone else with the same name and associate the two people in your mind. Pretend they’re friends or something.
Next time when you see them, you’ll be reminded of the person who’s name you do know (aka their imaginary friend with the same name). BAM – You’ve got their name memorized!
I recalled this genious tip recently and it is helping me a lot. No longer do I have to call everyone that guy, but can actually call them by there names.
Sometimes I still forget, but not near as much as I did a month ago.
